Who We Are
Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society (SVLAS) is a
501(c)(3) non-profit law firm.
What We Do
We provide FREE, high quality civil legal services to low-income residents of 17 counties and four small cities in southwestern Virginia.
Your Impact
- Donations help low-income families access life’s basic necessities, including food, shelter and health care;
- Donations ensure individual safety and stability for victims of domestic violence, abused children and seniors;
- Donations support economic security for workers and families, from disputes about pay and working conditions to consumer protection issues such as fraud and predatory lending.

If you are a state employee, you may wish to contribute through the annual Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (our CVC# is 08389)
SVLAS is registered with the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Office of Consumer Affairs pursuant to the Virginia Solicitation of Contributions Law. A financial statement is available upon written request from the Office of Consumer Affairs.
Because SVLAS receives funding from the Legal Services Corporation we are required to notify all donors, including private donors, that we will not engage in activities prohibited by the LSC Act (42 U.S.C. 2996 et. seq. or by Public Law 104-134) or LSC Appropriations Riders.
